Pelikan Maiko in Kyoto Limited Edition
Maki-e is the art of Japanese lacquer painting and is renowned for its beauty and artistry. The Pelikan "Maiko in Kyoto" fountain pen uses Kaga Togidashi-Taka-Maki-e techniques that combine Taka-Maki-e and Togidashi-Maki-e.
The barrel of this pen depicts a graceful young woman standing on an ancient stone pavement amidst tumbling cherry blossom petals. She is a "Maiko" - an apprentice Geisha - and, in her sumptuous traditional costume, lacquered clogs and dangling sash, is the epitome of beauty for young Japanese women.
The Maiko in Kyoto is a masterpiece which combines the craftsmanship of Pelikan Germany with the superior Japanese Maki-e techniques, which are prized the world over.
The Pelikan logo is on the crown along with the limited edition number and the artist's signature is drawn in by hand.
The Maiko in Kyoto is a worldwide limited edition of only 88 pieces.
Each individually crafted piece is the size of the Souveran M1000 and is encased in a beautiful traditional Japanese paulownia wood presentation box.
Available with a 2-tone, 18-carat gold nib in medium nib width only.
