Origami  is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin.
The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.

The Namiki Nippon Art Collection takes traditional Japanese and auspicious subjects known the world over, such as “Mt. Fuji”, “Hagoita (battledore)”, and “Origami”, and has them drawn on a black lacquered background in Hira Maki-e (Flat Maki-e).
The shiny black of the lacquer, along with the overflowing vibrancy from each work makes it a sight to behold.
