Delta Indigenous People 2025 – Simbu "Dancing Skeletons"
Delta is proud to present the Indigenous People Collection 2025 – Simbu: Dancing Skeletons.
Hidden among the towering peaks of Papua New Guinea, the Simbu are a people of warriors, farmers, and guardians of an ancient tradition that binds earthly life to the spirit world. Their name comes from the local word "Simbu!" – an exclamation of wonder spoken by Australian explorers upon first encountering this proud tribe in the Highlands.
The Simbu are known for their tribal dances, traditional music, and above all, the iconic skeletal body painting, in which they decorate themselves as skeletons to intimidate their enemies.
Their society is structured in patriarchal clans, marked by strong family ties and traditional hierarchies.
Land is deeply significant: ownership is inherited and holds both social and economic value.
“The past does not fade: it dances among the living, etched into the bones of tradition.”
Delta Indigenous People 2025 – Simbu, a tribute to legacy, a vision for the future.
